Belly Wraps and Binders

What’s a belly wrap?

A belly wrap is a product that claims to aid people to lose abdominal weight faster during a workout. The claim is that the belly wrap heats up the midsection area during a workout that is supposed to target weight loss in that area. There are claims that people have lost weight and decreased waist size by using these wraps.

The reality is that weight loss is achieved not from losing fat but merely by fluid loss from excessive sweating. After the workout when one re-hydrates the weight immediately returns.
The danger of these bodysuits or body wraps is that one sweats excessively and can be susceptible to overheating resulting in dizziness, weakness, and mental confusion.

Lumbar Supports / Binders

Alternatively, lumbar supports or binders are divided into lumbar supports and lumbosacral supports. The lumbar support provides support to the lumbar or low back area whereas the lumbosacral support provides support to both the lumbar and sacral or upper buttocks areas. For people who have an injury or illness or lack the ability to maintain proper posture on their own for longer periods of time, a race is a good idea. For people who work in a job that requires lifting or other strenuous exercises a back brace can reduce the risk of back injury.

Back braces should only be worn during periods of strenuous exercise or activities. There is no excuse for exercise to strengthen the core muscles.
