Herniated Disc

Gulf Coast Spine Care specializes in creating personal treatment plans for our patients.

What is a Herniated Disc?

Your vertebral discs are made up of two main components: a soft inner nucleus and a tough outer shell. A herniated disc occurs when the soft inner material pushes or breaks through a weakened area in the outer shell of a disc.

Herniated disc treatments can range from epidural injections to minimally invasive spinal surgery. Depending on the severity, it may be necessary for Dr. Cotler to perform a discectomy or disc replacement procedure. A MRI scan can usually let Dr. Cotler determine which areas of the spine have been affected, and which treatment options are available to you.
